adidas X By O: What Makes It Different?

Last year adidas Originals began the roll-out for its exciting new X By O range. The range was described as a streetwear collection “inspired by the essence of three-stripe's sportswear and driven by a trifecta of collaborative mastery.”

To breakdown this collaborative collection, you need to look at three main aspects to fully understand its significance. The first is the collection's inspiration. The line was inspired by adidas Originals’ first-ever apparel collection, specifically a cross motif that was taken from the 1959 adidas Italia sneaker, which appears on the back collar of the X By O tees and sweatshirts.

The collection is in collaboration with Japanese Pattern-maker Satomi Nakamura, who devised the cuts of the collection, most of which are very clean, minimal takes on classic sweats. The last important aspect of the X By O range is that of the premium materials used for the garments. The materials used are all made from Japanese terry cotton from Yamayo Textiles, a factory with which adidas has been working for more than 50 years. The materials are made exclusively for the X By O line, with the fabric being 100% pure cotton and very densely knitted.

With this range, adidas Originals overall aim is to bring simplicity and quality to their streetwear apparel collection. Considering this line is made from Japanese terry cotton, you can expect some serious comfort and durability, without substituting the luxury element. The collection prides itself on being subtle and in this current fashion market this is often rare to find amongst men’s clothing especially in streetwear.  The fine details of the hand-crafted patterns certainly help make this range different, and are definitely essentials for any wardrobe.
