Writers Only: Basement Battle Graffiti Event
Sunday the 18th of August sees a new collective called Writers Only host their first graffiti event in Cape Town. Free for all to join, the aim is to bring Cape Town writers back together and promote graffiti in our city, starting small and building up with each event.
The first Writers Only event will feature 3 battles on the day:
Letters (12pm)
4 artist will go head to head, they will be given the same word one week before the battle. They will compete on style, colour choice and overall quality within 4 hours.
Character (2pm)
4 artists will be given a theme one week before the event, they will have 2 hours to compete to produce the best character within the time.
Throw up (3pm)
Artists will have the chance on the day to join the battle, so bring cans with to join. Bring 2 cans for entry and extra to paint with.
Colour scheme and letters/character theme will be announced a week before the battle. 6 cans supplied for each piece/character by our store, but writers are not limited in how many colours/cans they can use. Walls will all be primed black for the event.
First place for the Letter Battle will win R1000 cash, plus a Shelflife hamper and a Sins Of Style tattoo voucher. Winner of the character battle walks away with R500 and a Shelflife hamper. And the best throw-up takes all cans in the Throw Up battle. All winners will be announcedat 4pm on Sunday the 18th of August.
The first Writers Only Graffiti Event is happening Sunday 18 August at House of H, 112 Loop St, Cape Town City Centre, Cape Town, Doors open at 12pm with the first event at 12pm.
