Why Are People Destroying Their Supreme Online?

Why Are People Destroying Their Supreme Online?
If you love Supreme, you might want to look away. Supreme is one of the most sought-after brands in the world, with collectors stashing tons and tons of rare items in their closets year after year.

While that Box Logo that dropped last year might be hot, its the pieces from 5 - 10 years ago that really hold value. That’s because, as most of you know, Supreme never restocks. So the value of that Damien Hirst Box Logo (R8k +) from ’09 just goes up and up and up, unless damaged of course. But what would make someone like 17-year old Tristan Wick from South Carolina destroy his own Hirst Bogo with a pen? “It triggers people”, apparently.

And you know it wouldn’t be a Supreme trend without it being lead by The Supreme Guy himself Eric Whiteback. Eric has been seen tie-dying the most recent Box Logo drops that includes the Split Box Logo with CDG. And the best part is he takes us along for every step of the process. Next, he set out on a quest to see what would happen if he ironed over the “NO IRON” Swarovski Box Logo Hoodie that's worth R30k. It didn’t go well.

Besides letting the latest Supreme items go up in flames while he calls the drop ‘fire’, Eric has just released his most impressive/cringy video yet. He climbed up a Supreme stepladder and smashed the Supreme Meissen Hand-Painted Porcelain Cupid Figurine in the street. It retailed for about R56 000 ($4000) and is on StockX for $89 000. As painful as it is to watch, Eric then makes the pieces into jewellery. It can all be seen here. But why on earth would you do it? You only have to look at Eric's almost half a Million follower count to understand the reasoning - clout.

Other honourable mentions deserve to go to Joshua Nowak going HAM on a LV x Supreme Hoodie and Marco & Alvin that did the same injustice to the tee version. Both are valued at about R18k and R13k respectively.
