First released in 2008, the Blaze of Glory OG sneakers, ‘Great White’ and ‘Black Beast’, received incredible acclaim throughout the sneakerworld. Five years later, the pack was reissued, to the delight of those who missed out on the initial drop, in both original colourways with only slight modifications to the build. Following its immense success, Sneaker Freaker has released the third and final installment of the Sneaker Freaker x PUMA Blaze of Glory project, thematically titled Sharkbait.

Built predominantly of sharkskin nubuck and mesh, the bright turquoise colourway receives a mix of textures and details, including perforations for breathability, layered plastic wings along the sides and nylon detailing below the mesh tongue that gives way to the geometric Blaze of Glory logo patch. The signature shark tooth hangtag carries treasure chest gold accents across the sneaker, into the fin-like gold detail on the midsole and PUMA emblem on the heel. Black hits along the front wings and Sneaker Freaker pull tabs, contrasts to the white and mako grey midsole, while the translucent blue Trinomic sole, surrounded by razor tooth-like facets, continues the marine theme.

Complete with custom packaging – an oversized padded box with geometric Blaze of Glory design - the Sneaker Freaker x PUMA Blaze of Glory Sharkbait release included a custom beanie, a second set of insoles, additional laces and a copy of the limited edition 29th issue of Sneaker Freaker magazine.

Predominantly a Friends and Family release, a select number of the sneakers were sold exclusively through the Sneaker Freaker webstore, but in true elitist fashion reminiscent of the 2008 drop, the kicks sold out almost instantaneously.

Shelflife managed to get their hands on one of the very few pairs that landed in South Africa for their own collection and not for resale. We would like to thank PUMA and Sneaker Freaker for the pair of Friends and Family Sharkbait sneakers.
