ORIGINAL BLOG:

Writers Only and Shelflife presents Hell in a Searle!

The three teams have been chosen, and will battle it out at a park-side match for the ages in the Mother City this weekend, with a R5000 cash prize up for grabs!

Writers Only are a collective of Cape Town based graffiti writers, comprised of Nardstar, Fersyndicate and Smetr, who are restoring the culture of graffiti, not only within our city, but the country at large. Graffiti is an authentic art form practiced on the streets which highlights the appreciation of stylistic letters using aerosol paint. However, it rings much deeper, and with its history born out of social injustice, graffiti facilitates self-expression in aid of communication for social change.

The collective revives graffiti culture through their events - connecting the community with battles, park jams, graffiti benches and through social media. The first Writers Only battle took place on 18 August 2019 at the basement of House of H, but the team has gone on to host multiple Park Jams (Super Fine Jam & Burners Only) and other events throughout the years. After the pandemic hit, Writers Only moved online, fostering relationships with the community through online challenges and sketch battles.
