Barry McGee 'Potato Sack Body' Exhibition in Tokyo
Barry McGee’s latest solo exhibition sees the San Fransisco local hit Tokyo with new paintings and installations.
Barry, or Twist as he’s known by some, never just does one thing. In Japan, he experiments with the contrast between imagery and material with multi-panel paintings, framed works, painted ceramics, repurposed found objects and more.
The range of elements displays Barry’s inclusive approach to art, which “evokes a sense of community and diversity that could be seen as typical of the Bay area from which he hails.” Further inspired by the place he has resided in throughout his artistic career, McGee constructs site-specific installations that explore space and the dialogue between art and life.
