Next week, Nike will be dropping a retro rendition of its 2002 release of the Air Max 1 alongside atmos.

A perfect blend of two Tinker Hatfield-designed classics (the Air Safari and Air Max 1), the kicks are not only an awesomely unique hybrid, but one that aged great with time thanks to its premium construction.

The original "Safari" Air Max 1 (released back in 2002) is one of the most treasured Air Max pairs out there, coming out at a time when safari prints on sneakers other than the Nike Air Safari were still a novel thing, as were sneaker collaborations.

In a move that may or may not upset longtime fans of the sneaker, changes have been made to give it a fresh look. This time around, the classic Nike Air Max 1 is dressed in a Flax, Kumquat and Chestnut colourway. The traditional gum outsole is gone, replaced by an icy blue translucent one - which glows in the dark. In addition, the toebox this time around has received a furry treatment and the overall shape is different.

The Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 “Safari” will drop and be available at Shelflife in store only from the 14th of March 2016.
