UBER SA's Panic Button For Its Riders

UBER SA's Panic Button For Its Riders
Safety continues to be a top priority of Uber, especially here in SA. They recently highlighted the fact that they have a panic button built into their app for any SA riders who feel they are at risk during the trips.

The update from 2018 comes in partnership with ICEplus, a mobile panic button solution. To find the feature, visit the safety features section, where it is bundled together with other safety tips like Uber’s driver screening processes, rider injury protection, as well as community guidelines. It is clear Uber have gone out of their way to make the Panic Button as accessible as possible from the home screen.

Once the in-app button has been activated, riders will be connected to ICEplus Incident Management Centre, where a consultant will assess the nature of the safety incident and will either dispatch a third-party private security company or medical response team to the rider's location. The ICEplus agent will stay on the line with the rider until they are safe.

Alon Lits, General Manager for Sub Saharan Africa said, "This partnership is part of Uber’s investment to strengthen rider safety. We are thrilled to be able to offer this feature to riders. ICEPlus has integrated perfectly with our app and will provide a better experience for riders".

This is an extremely welcomed update to the Uber Service in SA, let’s just hope we don’t have to use it too soon.
