The New adidas Yung-1

adidas is continuing the dad shoe trend after the Yeezy Desert Rat with a fresh new silhouette called the Yung-1. First shown as part of the upcoming adidas x Dragon Ball Z collaboration, the Yung has fans anxiously awaiting the release of more colourways. And it is seems that’s about to happen. With a rumoured release later this year, the chunky runner has already been seen on the feet of the few lucky enough to get a pair early. People like Hailey Baldwin, Adrianne Ho, Lil Uzi Vert and Pusha T have all been seen sporting the new adidas Yung-1.

For many fashion-forward sneaker heads, chunky kicks from Kanye or the high-fashion houses can be hard to get or are priced out of reach, which leaves them looking for other options. Now they might have their best choice yet.

The adidas Yung-1 is actually not a completely new silhouette either. It’s a creation from the adidas archives. It combines an updated 90s Falcon Dorf upper with a new chunky sole to complete a dad shoe that’s chunky, but not too chunky.  The runner is made up of a combination of nubuck and suede, with retro mesh accents and Three Stripe detailing. The Yung-1 also rests upon a Torsion-equipped midsole, which was adidas's most used sole unit in the 90s. Below you can see the original Falcon Dorf released in 1997 on the right, and on the left you can see the new Yung-1.

Three colourways have been seen online and on the feet of influencers so far. These include a bright orange pair, a clean monochromatic white/grey pair and retro red, navy and cream pair. Check out the three colourways below as well as the "Frieza" version for Dragon Ball Z rumoured to be releasing later this year. Stay locked on Shelflife for release details.
