Nike Pays Tribute to Compton With 1972 Cortez

Much like the Nike Air Force 1 ruled throughout the areas of New York City, and the Reebok Classic Leather did much of the same in New Orleans in the late 90’s, similarly, the Nike Cortez‘s claim to fame is the streets of Compton, California.

The staple west coast silhouette, fittingly, honours the city where it was popularized decades ago. In a smart and subtle ode to Compton, the Cortez releases in tonal black and white colourways.

Coming in two tonal offerings, the Cortez comes in an all-white or all-black colourway rocking the nylon and leather construction. The shoe honours Compton by using the type font synonymous with the city on the branding placed on the heel as ‘1972’ is embroidered in tonal fashion. Tonal branding, laces and sole units complete the simple look of the shoe.

Both colourways will release this Friday the 29th of April for the retail price of R1199.00
