Penny Hardaway was positioned to be Nike’s next big signature superstar before Shaq left Orlando and injuries riddled Anfernee’s career. What was left was a formidable run of signatures including his unforgettable championing of the Nike Air Foamposite One.

The pack itself has been dubbed the “Sharpie” Pack because this colour scheme of the Foamposite One was originally a PE version of the OG royal blue colour scheme that had to be blacked out in certain areas to fit in with the NBA’s uniform policy.

During the ’97 playoffs while Penny was gathering attention for putting up back-to-back 40 point games to will the Magic and Heat to a deciding Game 5, Penny took a felt tip marker and coloured in tiger-like stripes on the shoe’s upper to meet the NBA’s demands.

That PE is now officially being released alongside the new Nike Penny 6, a shoe that draws from the rich Penny ancestry as well while adding new tech developments like Dyanmic Flywire and Megafuse into the mix.

Its counterpart bears a very familiar Penny theme, donning “Orlando” tones throughout. This will mark the widely anticipated debut of the Penny 6 – thus the very fittingly colour scheme. This is also the second release of a Penny shoe post-retirement. Considering the success of the Penny 5, and the look of the 6, we can expect a similar response to this sixth edition as with its predecessor.

The Nike Air Penny “Sharpie” Pack will be available at Shelflife from 13h00 on the 26th of August 2015 for the retail price of R5999.00
