The Nike Air Max Deluxe 'Midnight Navy’ is the latest vintage silhouette to enjoy a major revival. This is one of the first colourways to debut as part of a re-release for 2018. Nike is relaunching its Air Max Deluxe silhouette this year and has given us insight into what went into designing the futuristic runner. The sneaker, which first made its appearance in 1999, came out during a time when rave culture was at its height in Europe and the U.K.
Reflective apparel and wild prints were the outfit of choice for ravers across the continent and quickly became the inspiration behind the Nike Air Max Deluxe OG’s design. Its upper is where the Air Max Deluxe shone, as it shared its full-length Max Air sole unit with the Air Max 97 and 98. When the Deluxe came out, it was one of the first times Nike had used an all-over digital print on neoprene. Its heel featured the same molding technique used on 1997’s Air Foamposite, while increased reflectivity and wide stitching on the upper completed the look.
One of the first colourways to celebrate the long-awaited return comes dressed in a Midnight Navy, Laser Orange, Persian Violet and Black colour scheme. This pair stays entirely true to an OG colourway right down to the wavy fusion of colours to the upper. The shoe features a tie-dye-like graphic design throughout its neoprene constructed upper. A full-length Air Max 97-inspired cushioned sole along with 3M Reflective detailing completes the design.
The Nike Air Max Deluxe OG 'Midnight Navy' will drop on Thursday the 16th of August for the retail price of R2699.00 in our CPT and JHB store via first come first serve. Online will drop remaining pairs at 11am.
