Make-A-Zine Workshop this Weekend

This weekend Cape Town's AVA gallery is hosting another weekend workshop on how to make a Zine. Set to be held at the AVA gallery itself this Saturday, the workshop enlists the help of artist Scott Eric Williams and aims to teach the public how to make a Zine in a poster format. For those unfamiliar, a Zine (pronounced “Zeen”) is s a small-circulation, self-published booklet of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via photocopier, folded and stapled.

The format for the Make-A-Zine workshop is relaxed, but has enough structure to ensure all attendees leave with knowledge of the skill and industry. The workshop will include a brief history of Zines, examples of Zines, and will end with an exercise in Zine making. Got kids? Bring them along as there will be a special Kids Make-A-Zine space too.

Entrance is R60 per person at the door. The Workshop will begin at 11am on Saturday 30 June and finish at 2pm.

The workshop is set to be held at the Assocation of Visual Arts Gallery, 35 Church Street, CBD, Cape Town.
