Lime: America's E-Scooters are Coming to Cape Town
If you follow celebrities online or watch a good amount of US entertainment, you’ve probably seen the electric scooter trend that’s sweating the States. The forerunner for this movement is Lime, with the highly recognisable green scooters and bicycles.

And now, Lime plans to extend their reach to the environmentally conscious Cape Town CBD early next year. This is how it’ll work: you’ll download the Lime app, and sign up with your details and payment method. Then, you can rent any electric scooters, dock-free bikes and assisted e-bikes. Users scan a barcode on the scooter to activate it and are able to make payments directly through their app. The fleet of vehicles will be available at strategic, privately-owned locations throughout the city for your ease of use.

“Cape Town is helping lead the way forward on technology and innovation in Africa, and we’re excited to be a part of that story,” said Wayne Ting, global head of operations and strategy at Lime. “Our mission is to improve urban living through sustainable, affordable transportation, and we’re looking forward to extending meaningful mobility access and reduced carbon emissions to South Africans living in and travelling to Cape Town.”

This is definitely an exciting announcement for the Mother City and one we are extremely honoured to debut. Stay tuned for more on this topic!
