Spanish urban artist SpY returns with an installation piece entitled 'Cameras', where 150 security cameras have been placed along the facade of a building in Madrid, Spain.
While the artist describes the installation piece as having the intention of 'not watching over anything', the camera lenses have been angled to stare directly to the street below, marking every move of the passersby below. Following the thought provoking nature of SpY's urban art installation work, 'Cameras' captures a sense of irony in society, by making a bold statement into the notions of both public space and surveillance, as well as privacy and intrusion.
