Banksy’s latest work got no love this Valentine’s.
The elusive graffiti marvel unveiled his latest street art in time for Valentine’s Day — just for it to get vandalized two days later. The UK mural — showing a young girl firing a slingshot that exploded into a burst of red flowers growing on the side of a house — was confirmed to be a genuine Banksy work on the artist’s Instagram page at midnight.

But overnight Saturday — just 48 hours after it went up — the British slur word “W—ERS” spray-painted over it in pink along with a large pink heart. The vandals in Banksy’s assumed-hometown of Bristol even ripped down a $325 plastic cover that was supposed to protect the artwork for years to come.

“It is an absolute shame,” Edwin Simons, who owns the house where the Banky work appeared, told BristolLive. “It makes me feel sick – I have had to step back from it as it upsets me too much. I can’t go look at it now.” His daughter, Kelly Woodruff, told the site that the family was now brainstorming what to do next to preserve the work by the world’s most famous graffiti artist. “It is there for everyone to enjoy and it has now been spoiled – one individual is spoiling it for everybody,” she said.
