ASICS x Slam Jam Gel-Mai Black
ASICS Tiger and Slam Jam team up again for a new collaboration in restyling the iconic Gel-Mai. The Gel-Mai was first released back in the late 90s and featured a head-turning construction that completely ditched the iconic ASICS stripes for a one piece futuristic upper.
This special edition release fuses colourful design elements across a dark and contemporary upper. It's both cutting-edge and technical while bringing that high-fashion curb appeal. Premium leather hits much of the upper but an open construct across the toe reveals a soft, mesh lining underneath. Bold hits of blue offer some contrast to an otherwise monochromatic theme. A piping system travels around the ankle and connects to an integrated lacing system. Aside from looking unique, this boasts that secure and lockdown fit.
It’s the Gel Lyte midsole underfoot which finishes the look off nicely. Designed in a split colour construct, this features a light shade of blue at the front followed by that tonal black at the rear. Finally, the conventional ASICS branding stripes hits the heel in the form of a pink embossed overlay.
The ASICS x Slam Jam Gel-Mai Black will drop in store and online on the 4th of March 2017 for the retail price of R2199.00.
