A Brief History of the Reebok Answer V

With a brand new Reebok Answer V available in SA, it's time we take a brief look at Allen Iverson's retro basketball sneaker from 2001.

The Reebok Basketball family that the Answer V is a proud member of started in 1996 with the Reebok Question. As a whole, it was a signature basketball range for Allen Iverson during his career in the NBA. Some consider the Question as the most commercial and recognisable signature sneaker of Iverson's, but now the Answer V in its OG white and red is getting some love.

The Answer V followed on from the previous 4 Answer models, as well as the mentioned Question, and the range has gone on to include Answer models numbered 6 to 14 after the Reebok Answer V. Check out the Answer V commercial with Iverson and Jadakiss below too!

First released in 2001, the key details from the Answer V’s were the plush tumbled white leather upper, and a swirling red leather shroud enveloping the laces all the way up to the tongue. The shroud extended to a ‘DMX’ tag and plastic shape that continued to the white, DMX-cushioned midsole. Complementing red accents across the ankle and heel kept the shoe’s look unified, bolstering Iverson’s familiar “I3” branding on the rear of the shoe. Thankfully, the re-release of this classic basketball sneaker from the early 2000s is on-point with the original.
